Kuala Lumpur days: A budget friendly exploration of Malaysia’s capital

Me and my husband decided to visit Malaysia’s national capital Kuala Lumpur. Our flight was from Cochin international airport as it is one of the airport which offers cheapest flights to south east Asian countries. After three hour of flight finally we landed in Kuala Lumpur international airport

Best ways to get from KLIA to city

Shuttle Bus: It’s cheaper and convenient to take a bus shuttle from airport to central Kuala Lumpur. You can purchase the tickets at airport coach counter at KLIA. The journey was relaxing as bus was equipped with air conditions and comfortable padded seats.

Travel time: 1 hour

Cost: RM 10

You also have these options!!!

KLIA Express Trains: It’s the fastest way to get from airport to KL Sentral but not the cheapest.

Travel time: 30 minutes

Cost: RM 55

KLIA Taxi: It is pretty comfortable way to get to KL Sentral but most expensive one.

Travel time: 40-50 minutes

Cost: RM65-RM100

From KL Sentral we took a metro to our hotel in Pasar Seni. Metro is most convenient to travel with in the city.

Petronas Tower

It is the twin towers in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. At the base of twin tower is Suria KLCC, shopping mall that is very popular with tourists. Surrounding the Petronas tower is the beautiful KLCC park with walking path, and water fountains.

A View from Above

Petronas Twin towers observation deck is at 86th Floor, where visitors can get the picture perfect view. Double-decked sky bridge at the Petronas also offers amazing view of the city. Purchase your tickets online, it’s very difficult to get onsite tickets. It cost around RM 85 for the Petronas Tower tour.

Sri Mahamariamma Temple

It is the oldest Hindu temple located closer to china town. It was so peaceful and divine.

Guan Di Temple

It is the Chinese temple located in china town Kuala Lumpur. It is an easily recognizable building with bright red color and colorful dragons coiled around the two main pillars of the temple.

Genting Highland

It is a hill resort with hotels, shopping malls, casinos and theme parks.

Most popular attractions

Awana SkyWay: It is most convenient and beautiful way to reach top of Genting Highlands

Casinos: You will be thrilled!! Tried my luck but!!! good luck next time. If you are trying luck at casino, carry your passport with you, if you win you need to present your ID to collect your winning amount. Do not take pictures inside the casino, its completely prohibited and do not carry any luggage.

Food court: You can taste good Thai, Chinese, Malaysian and Indian foods

Chin Swee Caves Temple

It is a Buddhist temple on the way to Genting Highland, here you can get the panoramic view of the mountains. The most convenient way to reach the temple is via Awana SkyWay cable car. You have to keep your tickets as you can use it to continue your journey towards the Genting Highland.

Batu Caves

Batu cave is at almost at the edge of Kuala Lumpur. Take train from KL Sentral to Batu Caves. There is a train every half an hour and temple is just a meter away from station. It is cave temple dedicated to Hindu god Murugan.

Merdeka Square

Merdeka square is located opposite to Sultan Abdul Samad Building and one of the iconic landmark of Kuala Lumpur.

Bukit Bintang

Bukit Bintang is the Kuala Lumpur’s most happening place. The most iconic landmark here is Pavilion KL shopping mall. It is also very famous for street foods.
