Wayanad is district in the Kerala state. It’s set high on the beautiful Western Ghats with the altitude ranging from 700-2100. This place offers you with picture perfect tea estates, water falls, wild life sanctuary, lush green mountains. It reminds you of the childhood days’ paintings with green mountain, blue sky, a small cottage, wet roads, rain, water falls what else! You can be close to nature away from hectic busy life.
I took a break from the routine life and enjoyed being closed to nature. Tranquility of nature can calm your mind. Wayanad is a perfect weekend gate way close to Bangalore. We started at 6.00 am from Bangalore and reached Wayanad at 1.00 pm. We took a route- Bangalore-Mysore-Nanjanagudu-Gundlupet and then entered Bandipur forest. Approximately 30min drive through the forest and entered Sultan Bathery, the first town you get once you reach Wayanad. Throughout the journey could not spot any wildlife may be because it was sunny afternoon! We get two wild life sanctuaries, Bandipur wildlife sanctuary and Wayanad wildlife sanctuary. Must say, it was an amazing journey through the Western Ghats.
If you want to explore the scenic beauty of the nature visit Wayanad during monsoon season. We spend two days and could visit beautiful tea estate, edakkal cave and meenmutty waterfalls. We stayed at Vythiri resort, close to nature. Over all everything was perfect; food, people, stay, monsoon. Indeed, I fell in love with Wayanad!
Important Note! If you are travelling to Wayanad from Bangalore/ Mysore keep in mind, the forest entry is closed from 9.00pm to 6.00am. Do not stop anywhere on the forest its completely prohibited.
